I was subbing in a high school classroom when the bell interrupted a disagreement between students. Still upset, a girl gathered her books and stomped to the door. "Well," she fumed as her antagonist disappeared down the hallway, "I hope you have an ugly girlfriend!"

Silhouettes
We focused on silhouettes in photography class this week. After a brief discussion of backlighting, I dragged my two youngest students outside with a camera and a cowboy hat. Our model was grumpy, but that was okay for a silhouette. I gave him a pitchfork and positioned him in the doorway. Then my assistant and I shot away while he scowled.

Thank the Lord
We plow the fields, and scatter the good seed on the land,
The winds and waves obey Him, by Him the birds are fed;
Much more to us, His children, He gives our daily bread.
We thank Thee, then, O Father, for all things bright and good,
The seed time and the harvest, our life, our health, and food;
No gifts have we to offer, for all Thy love imparts,
But that which Thou desirest, our humble, thankful hearts.

Sweet William
Our iMac has been in a coma for months. In mid-June it became unresponsive. When school started in September Dad ordered another Mac, but we still lamented the G5's life-threatening illness. The iMac spent over a month at the hospital and we almost gave up hope. But Monday he returned, restored to complete health and housing pictures I had forgotten I had taken last June, such as these Saturday afternoon shots of a bouquet of Sweet William.

Choir
Each year the culminating event of the Charity Youth Bible School is the choir presentation Sunday evening. This year was no exception. Through the week, under the direction of Earl Fox, six hundred young men and women practiced such songs as "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Fierce Raged the Tempest." November 8th the choir blended their voices, a cappella, before a crowd of over a thousand people.
