Salt painting
A visit from the Pennsylvania branch of the family tree wouldn't be complete without at least one art project.
We experimented with salt painting, which was perfect for portraying July 4th fireworks.
Here's what we used:
glue (such as Elmers)
sturdy dark paper
coarse salt
watercolors
paint brushes
Here's what we did:
1. Use glue to create a design on the paper.
2. Cover the glue with coarse salt. Shake off excess salt.
3. Let dry.
4. Dab the paint brush in watercolor paint and plenty of water.
5. Lightly touch the paintbrush to the salt to color the salt.
