Wednesday morning my friend Amanda, Betsy and I experienced the warmth and color of the tropics. We visited "Butterflies in Bloom" in the conservatory of a local gardens. The air was heavy with moisture and full of the songs of birds. Butterflies flitted between vibrant flowers or rested beside the lily pad adorned pond. It was an enchanting escape from the mud and bleakness of Michigan spring. And it made Amanda sigh and long for the Dominican Republic.
love the composition of the first photo...very inviting. The last shot makes me think of the first grade science butterfly unit we did...my favorite. the big day was when we did the release at the park...the kids wrote poems for the occasion and lots of the butterflies sat on us before they flew away. fun.
ReplyDeletewe saw you in the afternoon visiting Randy's Green Thumb - maybe looking for your own garden??
ReplyDeleteWe were checking for Easter Lilies for church. They won't have any until Saturday.
ReplyDeletethis post reminds me of a funny story when we went to the butterfly house in Georgia. Grandpa sat on a bench while we wandered the garden looking at the butterflies. When we met up with him he told us how he had been sitting there looking at all the different shapes of peoples heads!
ReplyDeleteHa-ha. That sounds like Grandpa.
