Mint tea

Iced tea, made from fresh mint leaves, is one of the tastes of summer. Here's the "recipe":

  • Pick a handful of mint from your garden.
  • Throw the leaves (still on the stem) into a pitcher.
  • Pour boiling water over the leaves.
  • Let steep for 5 minutes or more.
  • Fish out the leaves (it's easier if they're all still connected to the stem).
  • Cool the tea in the refrigerator.
  • Serve with ice.

The contrast of the house and the parking garage caught my eye while we were visiting downtown Lancaster with Judith.

Strawberry jam

Last week, after camping, Libby, Naomi and I continued to drive through Pennsylvania. We stopped by to see Julie, and then continued to Joel and Judith's. While visiting, we helped Judith make strawberry jam.

Delicious

Mom baked oatmeal cookies and Naomi filled them with ice cream. The resulting ice cream sandwiches were delicious.
