Grill marks

Naomi was pretty proud of the grill marks on her hamburgers last week.

Naomi and I make a good team on Wednesday evenings. I plan and prep, and she grills.

Harvest

I pulled some itty, bitty potatoes from my garden for dinner this week. They were delicious.

Blueberry picking

Friday was opening day at Fisher's Blueberry Farm, so we gathered up our buckets and picked blueberries in the evening.

Salt painting

A visit from the Pennsylvania branch of the family tree wouldn't be complete without at least one art project.

We experimented with salt painting, which was perfect for portraying July 4th fireworks.

Here's what we used:
glue (such as Elmers)
sturdy dark paper
coarse salt
watercolors
paint brushes

Here's what we did:
1. Use glue to create a design on the paper.
2. Cover the glue with coarse salt. Shake off excess salt.
3. Let dry.
4. Dab the paint brush in watercolor paint and plenty of water.
5. Lightly touch the paintbrush to the salt to color the salt.

At the lake

It's great to have friends who live on the lake, and encourage you to load up your kayaks and spend an afternoon on the water.
