Dishwasher

Last week Dad helped me install a shiny, new dishwasher.

In September my dishwasher gave out. I can't really blame it. It was the only appliance left from when we purchased the house 13 years ago (and it was nowhere new then). Parts of the rack were rusted through and I had to prop the door up using a stool so that it didn't crash to the floor. Despite it's quirks, it kept on washing dishes up until a few months ago.

Snowflakes

There were tears as I got out these quilled snowflakes that Naomi made last year.

Chilled

There wasn't snow yet, but it was cold when Libby, Kathryn and I went to Tawas Point last week.

Color

The sun made an unexpected, but welcomed, appearance on Tuesday and Amanda and I found some color at the Dow Gardens.

Prayer

Abba God

I raise my hands to you.

Pick me up and carry me.

Hold me close enough to feel your heart

Enfold me in the safety of your arms

Lift me up so that I can see

And let me rest my head upon your shoulder.

This raising of my hands

is my offering of praise

This bowing of my head

my only act of worship.

Fog

There's something philosophical about a foggy morning, which by obscuring some details emphasizes others.

Workers

On my birthday, I had a whole crew who came to clean gutters, put away lawn furniture and help cross tasks off my to-do-list.
