Substitute teaching

My sisters were excited Thursday. For the first time since the accident in January I accepted a substitute teaching job. "It makes it feel like we're getting back to normal," Betsy explained.

Betsy drove herself and Julie to therapy in the morning while I subbed for a half a day in the middle school.

Landscape

Landscape was the topic in photography class this week. After a short PowerPoint presentation, we grabbed our cameras and set out to see what we could find. I didn't capture any stunning landscape scenes, but we did make quite a sight as we wandered around the park snapping pictures.

Spring cleaning

Usually we clean the church building when the leaves are turning yellow and the combines are harvesting soybeans in the fields nearby. Our war on dust mites and spiders was delayed until spring this year. On Saturday, armed with bottles of polish and piles of rags, we rubbed and scrubbed and vacuumed and sneezed, and we even scoured the dreaded mini-blinds.

Spring color

The gardens were beautiful last week, but they were stunning this week. The grass and trees were green with the newness of spring. Rows of tulips stretched their showy heads toward the sun. The trees were loaded with pink blossoms.

Neither Julie nor Betsy are ready for long walks. Each visit we choose a different part of the gardens to explore and Wednesday we wandered through the, appropriately named, Color Garden.
