The limestone in the river forms a flat, pool-like bottom that was perfect for wading, especially when you are wearing waterproof boots.

Peninsula Point Lighthouse

Brian, Naomi and I spent the weekend enjoying outdoor adventures in the UP. On Saturday, we explored the Peninsula Point Lighthouse, near Escanaba. Most of the buildings, including the light-keeper's house have been destroyed, but the tower, which was build in 1865, still remains and is open for visitors to climb to the top.
