Worm farm

A couple of weeks ago, Abel and Cyrus and I put together a worm farm for their house. We started with three plastic totes. Abel and Cyrus drilled holes in the bottoms of two of the totes.

Then we found a couple of pieces of scrap wood. We put the hole-less tote on the bottom and then put in some scrap wood. Then we put a tote with holes on top, some more scrap wood and the top tote with holes. We used the scrap wood to keep the totes just a few inches apart.

Now that we'd assembled our multi-leveled farm, it was time to add the worms.

We sorted through the worms and casings in my worm farm and selected some worms to relocated to the new farm.

We added the worms and some bedding of leaves to the farm. Then we gave the worms some garbage food to eat.

We were finished building our farm. Abel labeled the top and the boys took the worms home to live happily ever after...or at least until their dad uses them for fishing bait.

  1. What a fun project! What a great aunt. Now the boys have their own farm.
