Red to blue

The red backs on these desks have bothered me ever since someone dug three of them out of storage and relegated them to the teachers' suite. So, yesterday I covered the red with blue fabric. It will be interesting to see who notices the change on Monday morning.

Apple harvest

I picked my apples. It was hardly the harvest that I had last year.

Five years

Five years ago, Julie and I signed papers to purchase the Cookie House. This month, the last mortgage payment was made.

Pink styrofoam

When I was growing up and Dad and Grandpa were remodeling our old farmhouse, Dad always bought blue styrofoam from the Dow store. The lumberyards had other, prettier colors. I wished for pink styrofoam.

Now that I've grown up, my wish has come true. I have a house with pink styrofoam.

Nepalese dinner

Nepalese tea with milk and sugar

I have been paired with a nursing student from Nepal as part of the International Friends and Family program at SVSU. Last Saturday, my student and three of her friends came over and cooked Nepalese food, including Nepalese tea, for me, Amanda, Kathryn and Libby.

Most of my interaction with international students has been with students from Saudi Arabia and China and I've learned about their cultures and beliefs. I'm really enjoying learning about new cultures and beliefs in a part of the world that I know very little about.
