Storyteller

My cousin Nathan is a storyteller. When Amanda and I visited the Nelsons in Georgia a couple of weeks ago, Nathan had a story for every occasion. We learned about the strange and unusual talents of his classmates and raw meat and rats at fast food restaurants. I asked Nathan to tell me a story to put on my blog. He complied by telling me about the tornado that swept through Americus, Georgia in March 2007.

The tornado had just finished up. I woke up the next day. We walked outside and saw a car that was smashed in the front and the back by two trees. So it was a compact, compact.

We went to the park and saw a statue of a man who lost his head.

Then we went to my teacher's house. The roof was slumping because of the water. When she went to go eat something the roof went splash or kerploosh or goospleesh.

We went down the street and saw the hospital. The bridge was burnt. There was a Taco Bell sign right next to it that Matthew said would be fun to take home except it was kind of shattered where the T was.

We went over to Burger King. When we were about to turn the street three fire engines came running down the street cause a stove in Burger King caught fire. It smelled like burnt paint.

Then we decided to go look at the damage at the Winn Dixie. When we looked we could see right through it. It was just a big, old hole. Then people started stealing items from the store. We decided to get away because we didn't want to be a part of that.

A guy died in the freezer in Winn Dixie. The door fell on him during the tornado.

We went over to our friends' house. We could see right over to their house because the trees were gone. Our friends' van got smashed on the front. It looked okay from the back except the tree smashing the front.

Finally we went back home, got clothing and took a shower at our friends' house because we had no running water. And that was the end.

  1. The storyteller gene is passed on....

I love the new header...or is that a footer? Reminds me of wild horses running in the surf.
