Saturday Amanda and I visited the Detroit Institute of Arts. Our original plan was to tour Mackinac Island, but since there was snow in the forecast for northern Michigan we saved outside activities for another day.
One afternoon was insufficient to explore all three floors. We spent most of our time on the second floor in the American, European and Modern collections and managed to view paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, Peter Paul Ruben, James Whistler and Mary Cassatt. We also toured one of the special exhibits that was a collection of photographs of people in Detroit taken by Robert Frank in 1955. There were still rooms and even floors left to explore when the guard warned us the museum was closing.
We didn't make it up to Mackinac Island, but we weren't disappointed. The Detroit Institute of Art was inspiring and as Amanda said, "There's just so much to see."
I see all that art inspired some very creative shots....glad you had fun...need to find myself a museum-loving friend as I'm sure there is much to see in Phoenix that I haven't even tapped into yet.

ReplyDeleteThat shot of the dresser mirror is fascinating, and the shadow shots are fun. But I really like the entryway shot. Angles and lines. Light and dark. Isn't black and white a palette of possibility?
