Hymn sing

Caleb warms up on the guitar before the hymn sing while his Dad, reflected in the green trailer, checks the settings on the keyboard.

Our church held a hymn sing outside Sunday evening despite the muggy weather and threatening thunder storms. Neighbors and friends from other churches brought their lawn chairs. Congregational singing, spontaneous arrangements and songs by families from our church drifted across the nearby fields. The program was shorter than planned due to an advancing thunderhead that sent musicians scrambled to put away electronics and instruments.

Last year the hymn sing was held inside due to the weather. This year we endured the sticky temperature for an evening outside.

After the program was over we sang "Happy Birthday" to the birthday girl.

Logan leans against a minivan, which reflects the congregation, during the Sunday evening outdoor hymn sing.

Our pool of talent was reduced, since two of the Bylers are on a missions trip and the Forsee family was on vacation. Though they don't usually provide special music, Brother and Sister Potteiger lent their voices on Sunday evening.
