Welkin

"Hark! how all the Welkin rings/ Glory to the King of Kings" reads the first line of Charles Wesley's "Hymn for Christmas Day." The poem was altered by George Whitefield and set to the music of Felix Mendelssohn to become the well-known Christmas carol it is today--"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing."

  2. Welkin has to do with the heavens. I had to look it up. It's a word that belongs with Beowulf and Shakespeare.
